Rain of Promise

Psalm 125:1-2 (CSB)

Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion.

It cannot be shaken; it remains forever.

The mountains surround Jerusalem

and the Lord surrounds his people,

both now and forever.

Galatians 1:10 (ESV)

For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.

Rain of Promise

A poem

I listen as the rain drops fall

A sky before me, dark

And I long to hide, retreat,

To walk away from dark and hard.

And yet I hear Your gentle Voice

“Stay here, My child

I’m holding you

Behold, my rain has come.

“It’s my love that calls you here

My love in aching, breaking seeds

For these raindrops fall

New life to grow.

“Hope you’ve carried deep

Waiting for these very drops

It’s My Promise falling here

Now lift your hands and heart.

“I’ve brought you here

To dry parched land

For not just you,

But many more.

“In worship raise

Your tear-stained eyes

And heavy heart

For, I’m about to pour.

“Darkened sky is all you see

Rain there pouring from the sky

But bend those knees

And look.

My Dove descending here

Rejoice and sing

My Light upon you dawns.

“Those seeds I’ve buried in you deep

Are breaking open

To overflow and bloom.”

Jeremiah 20: 9 (NIV)
But if I say, “I will not mention his word or speak anymore in his name,” his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot.
Matthew 13:23 (ESV)
As for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it. He indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty.”

Psalm 65: 9 (ESV)

You visit the earth and water it;[b]
    you greatly enrich it;
the river of God is full of water;
    you provide their grain,
    for so you have prepared it.
10 You water its furrows abundantly,
    settling its ridges,
softening it with showers,
    and blessing its growth.
11 You crown the year with your bounty;
    your wagon tracks overflow with abundance.
12 The pastures of the wilderness overflow,
    the hills gird themselves with joy,
13 the meadows clothe themselves with flocks,
    the valleys deck themselves with grain,
    they shout and sing together for joy.

[b]Psalm 65:9 Or and make it overflow

Psalm 119: 71-81 (NLT)

71 My suffering was good for me, for it taught me to pay attention to your decrees. 72 Your instructions are more valuable to me than millions in gold and silver. 73 You made me; you created me. Now give me the sense to follow your commands. 74 May all who fear you find in me a cause for joy, for I have put my hope in your word. 75 I know, O LORD, that your regulations are fair; you disciplined me because I needed it. 76 Now let your unfailing love comfort me, just as you promised me, your servant. 77 Surround me with your tender mercies so I may live, for your instructions are my delight. 78 Bring disgrace upon the arrogant people who lied about me; meanwhile, I will concentrate on your commandments. 79

Let me be united with all who fear you, with those who know your laws. 80 May I be blameless in keeping your decrees; then I will never be ashamed. 81 I am worn out waiting for your rescue, but I have put my hope in your word.

Psalm 65: 5-8 (ESV)

By awesome deeds you answer us with righteousness,
O God of our salvation,
the hope of all the ends of the earth
and of the farthest seas;
the one who by his strength established the mountains,
being girded with might;
who stills the roaring of the seas,
the roaring of their waves,
the tumult of the peoples,
so that those who dwell at the ends of the earth are in awe at your signs.
You make the going out of the morning and the evening to shout for joy.

Luke 9:24 KJV

For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.
